I'm Gary Drake, the founder and owner of Sterling Holistic Advisors based in Guilford, CT. Thank you for visiting my website and taking an interest in me and my firm. I'd like to tell you a bit about myself and how we work with clients.
I was born and raised in Montreal and am a dual citizen of the US and Canada. I am proud of my Canadian roots and can be known to belt out the Canadian national anthem at social functions! As often as possible, I enjoy returning to Quebec to visit family and see my favorite hockey team, Les Montreal Canadiens play.
When I moved to the US in 1989, I settled in the shoreline area of Connecticut and have called it home ever since. My two children Erica and Jordan are my pride and joy and are graduates of UCONN. They both hold PhD's and work as physical therapists and I couldn't be prouder of them. Thanks to my daughter Erica, I'm also a proud Grandpaw of an adorable golden retriever Sadie. You will often find Sadie at my office or see us walking the Guilford green or playing at a local beach!
I've always believed in giving back to my community and I'm proud to be involved in many local organizations. As a hockey lover, I got involved in youth sports when my children were young. I coached hockey ,soccer, and lacrosse. I enjoyed working with the kids. To this day I love to see them around town and hear how they are doing. Many years ago, I helped start the Guilford Girls Hockey program, it has since grown into the Shoreline Sharks girl's hockey program, the largest girls program in CT. Although I no longer sit on the board, I try to stay involved helping with the “Learn to Love Hockey” Sand Sharks program. I also ref both youth and adult hockey, which enables be to stay involved with the sport while getting some exercise. I have been a mentor in the Guilford Youth Mentoring program since 2003 and served as President of the organization from 2016 until 2019. In 2012 I became a Rotarian with the Guilford Rotary Club and have been an active member ever since, serving on many committees and as Executive Secretary and President Elect. In June 2019 I will become President serving a two-year term until June 2021. I am also a board member with the CCHRA Referee association.
In my spare-time, you will find me enjoying the outdoors whenever I can. I love to travel and explore new places, hiking, biking and spending time on the water or at my cottage on the Farm River. In the winter I love to ski, hike and snow-shoe.

What's not listed, is that I began working with the Investors Group, a financial planning company in Canada while still a resident of Canada from 1986-1994, where I built up a sizable client base in Quebec and Ontario.
My clients are like family to me and many are now long-time friends. While attending University I was certain of two things, I wanted to work with people and manage money. I have enjoyed many years helping individuals and companies manage their assets. I take a personal approach with my clients, learning as much about them as possible. Better understanding their wants and needs enables me to provide the best possible plan to reach their family goals.
